I know our 2nd grade did these one year. Not all of the butterflies made it, but it was definitely a lesson that the children will remember. They absolutely loved releasing the butterflies when they were ready.  I'm thinking this would be a great educational gift for my kids.  :)

Thomas the Train - Tidmouth Sheds Playset $16

My 2 year old loves "choo choo trains." We saw this play set clearanced at Toysrus for about $26 and thought he would love it. I scanned it with my shopsavy app and saw Kmart had it for $16.

We just happened to be at Kmart today and I saw it. It's marked $41, but rings up $15.87.

So...is it too early to buy for Christmas?

Books a Million Summer Sale

The only bookstore (or bookshop as Sissy calls it) left in our city is Books a Million. It's like our toy store. My kids love books.

We went today for their Summer Sale.


We are a sucker for book sales too. Clearance Buy 2 Get 1...yes please.

Bubby has one of these hide n seek books and it's one of his favorites!


So...guess what we took home today.

We've been going to the library a lot this summer too. Sissy is really starting to pick up on reading, so we've been checking out books on her level. She still has another year to go before Kindergarten, so she's doing really well.

Dinosaur World - Teachers Free - March

 

Has anyone ever been to Dinosaur World?  There are three locations (FL, KY, TX).  We've never been before, but we are planning a trip soon mostly because teachers are free in March.  My friend took her kids a few weeks ago and they loved it.  I'm sure my kids will love it.  We took them to Downtown Disney where they got to dig for dinosaur bones.  They loved looking in the dinosaur restaurant and shops.

They don't provide any food service (except ordering Pizza to be delivered), but that is actually better.  We can pack a picnic and not feel guilty for bringing food in like some of the theme parks.  I know it's not the same, but it seems like it will be something fun, educational, and cheap to try out. 

I will have to update you and let you know how it is.  Spring Break is next week!! :)  We have lots of fun things we hope to do.

Late night shopping...

I took the kids to the mall for dinner and then browsed around ToysRus to check out potential Christmas gifts.  It was SO busy and crazy at both places.  I went back out just a little bit ago by myself around 10pm.  It was SO nice and quiet.  No kids to buckle in and out of the car or to tell no to.  The employees were much more cheerful and able to help.  I worked there back in the day, so I know what it's like when it's busy.  I remember having a line of people waiting to ask me a question.  The entire line would follow me as I showed "guests" where items were and answered questions.  It's crazy.  I talked to an old coworker that was always a pleasure to work with.

I got my kids their big Christmas items at great prices and saved over $140 (almost 50% of the total bill).  Of course, I wouldn't have bought some of the items at full price anyway and one of them was a free box of Huggies diapers ($41) after buying 9 on the rewards program.  I had to buy more than I needed right now in order to qualify for the free one in the alloted time, but I don't have to buy diapers for a while. :) 

It was nice to see the savings though and I feel much more prepared for Christmas!  My children are a bit spoiled though. :P

I heard they have a huge book coming out tomorrow.  It's like the original big book, but a different one with sales for the week.  I don't know how the keep track of their sales with 2-4 ads going at the same time.  Crazy!  Not to mention the headaches of Layaway.  I'm glad I don't work there anymore. :)  I think I'll stick with teaching.  I know I have a crazy two weeks coming up, but after that I can enjoy my Christmas.

Toysrus Big Toy book

We got our Big Toy book earlier this week and they hit the papers today!

Sissy and I looked through and and suprisingly she didn't want everything in the book. lol  She did say she "really" wants the Barbie Power wheel.  The $270 one!  I don't think Mommy or Santa will be able to get that.  Her friend has one and she loves driving Bubby in it.  He loves it too.  Maybe we can look for a used gender neutral 2 seater one they can share. lol 

We are already looking into getting Bubby a tryicycle.  I'm thinking we may just need to stick to self proppelled cars/bikes rather than motorized.  :P  I have lots of things in mind to get my kids for Christmas...now I just need to narrow it down to what we are and can get them. 

Did I mention I met my husband at ToysRus?

Girl and her doll...

My daughter got a cute outfit with a matching doll's outfit for Christmas last year.  She has to take that doll with her everywhere when she wears that outfit.  She LOVES it!  Zulily has some really gorgeous dresses and outfits on sale.  I'm SO tempted to buy one for her.

It's worth the $23 just for the dress!

Duplo - $10

This duplo set is only $10 at Walmart!  Sissy doesn't need anything with more pieces, but she LOVES to build "towers" with her duplos  At this price I can't pass it up.  I'm sure she will love the animals.  Now if I can just get her to put them all away...in the right place.  :)
