Have you heard of the National Geographic Super Readers?
National Geographic Super Readers an incentive program that encourages children to read non fiction
books. You can download a poster with pictures of the books they can
read. After reading a book, the child crosses it off on the poster and
earns a sticker. Children can earn rewards for reading a certain number of books such as bookmarks, magnets, and T-shirts. All items are downloadable for free on the National Geographic website. You would just need the material to create them such as iron-on paper and t-shirt, sticker paper, etc.
My 5 year old is a beginning reader and she loved the program. We read the Sharks book together (it was a level 2 book) and she earned a sticker. She preferred to put the sticker on her poster instead of crossing out the book. I'll be looking for some of the early level National Geographic Super Readers for her. I'm thinking 1-2 would be great in her stocking for Christmas.
