Hide n seek

My little guy loves to play hide n seek. He even hides on his own. He just hasn't found the best spots yet.

Hmm...where is Bubby?

His other spot wasn't any better.

If I can't see you, then you can't see me.

Now he's got Daddy involved.

Sissy decided to join in too.

I hope you have a fun day.

Farm Rich Snack and Appetizers Giveaway

We love Farm Rich snacks and appetizers.  They have so many different snacks to choose from.  We haven't tried all of them yet, but we haven't had one we didn't like either.  Our list of favorites so far are Mozzarella Bites, Cheese Sticks, Pizza Slices, and Marinara Stuffed Mozzarella Sticks.

We had some Mozzarella Bites for a snack this afternoon and the kids loved them.  Bubby was hungry and he doesn't like to wait for food.  Thankfully, these only took a minute in the Microwave for 8 of them.  I prefer them oven cooked, but they were still good from the Microwave.

Sissy didn't want to stop eating to pose for a picture.
Mmm....and he is my very picky eater!
There are a lot more varieties to pick from that I want to try now.  I know the kids would love the French Toast sticks.  I didn't even know they had them.  I like their slogan "something for every meal, every snack, and everyone."  We usually have cheese sticks with Spaghetti instead of garlic bread.  I love that they are quick and easy to make.  They are great for parties, kids snacks, dinner, lunch, etc.  Check out all the different products!

Sissy gives them two thumbs up.

I have two 2 coupons good for free Farm Rich snacks and appetizers ($6.99 value each, which covers the cost of the product) to giveaway!   The hardest part is deciding which two to get.

I was not compensated for this review.  I did receive 2 Farm Rich Snacks and Appetizers coupons.  All opinions are my own.

Struck by Lightning

Have you ever been told not to take a bath during a thunderstorms.  I was always told lightning can strike the house and the current can travel through the metal pipes and in the water to you.  I guess I never really believed it or just thought "what are the odds."  In FL, we have thunderstorms ALL the time.  We are used to it.  We make sure to try and stay indoors in severe lightning, but I always considered inside to be safe and didn't always follow safety advice.  I got a huge lesson in lightning yesterday after I got struck indoors.  Yes. I was struck by lightning.  Thankfully, it was indirectly and was just a little shock. I'm fine.

We've had storms everyday for almost 2 weeks. We had another evening storm passing over us, so we were trying to help the kids to not be scared.  I had just finished cooking dinner and was dishing up my plate when all of a sudden we heard the loud bang of thunder.  At almost the same time I felt the shock go up my middle, through my hand, and up my arm.  I yelled and jumped back.  It scared me more than anything.  It felt like sticking your hand in an electrical socket.  Not that I've done that since I was a little kid.  I needed to sit down to make sure I was just scared and not hurt. I'm pretty sure I shook for an hour.

Our kids were scared so we tried to keep them calm while assessing the damage.  I didn't hear all the pops my husband heard... I was a bit preoccupied getting electrocuted.  Turns out there's enough damage to various electronics to call the insurance company.  We have a $1000 deductible and $2000+ damage.  We are pretty good about using surge protectors, but we weren't careful about our cable plugs being protected so we lost our nice TV and computer that way.  It came in through the cable line and fried everything connected to it.  Ironically, we bought the service plan on our older TV that includes surge, but not the new nicer one we bought last year.  All our phones are gone and our internet.  Thankfully, we have smart phones. My garbage disposal was hit.  All garage outlets were hit including our irrigation system and garage door sensor.  So it looks like all summer projects (mainly painting) will be postponed until next summer due to unexpected expenses.

Be safe during a lightning/thunderstorm!  Stay away from windows, anything metal, and no showers/baths.  It's the perfect excuse to not cook too!  Don't touch the stove!  We are just happy the damage wasn't worse.

We found where it hit the house.  We also found two more scorch marks on each side.

PottyCover Review and Giveaway!

My daughter has issues with public toilets.  Who doesn't really?  Many times they are dirty and it's just not the same as home.  Potty training with Sissy had many difficulties because of this.  She was very picky about the toilet.  She refused to use a public toilet for a LONG time.  It all started when we were in the beginnings of potty training and attempted to use a dirty, metal, self-flushing park toilet in a dark room.  Not cool.  One time, we went on a trip to my Mom's house (4hr drive) and she absolutely refused to use any toilet because we weren't at home.  I thought for sure she'd just eventually wet herself, but she somehow held it from 7am until almost 6pm.  I was getting worried about her getting a bladder infection, so I eventually held her down on Granny's toilet (kicking and screaming) and told her she was on the potty already and to just go.  Thankfully, most of this is behind us (no pun intended), but she's still picky about what toilets she'll willingly use.

I'm getting ready to start the potty training process all over again with Bubby and I cringe at the whole public toilet use and teaching him that toilets are dirty.  I have images of Sissy trying to scoot up the potty and putting her hands all over it to get on and hold on.  This is where the PottyCover comes in.

PottyCover is a disposable toilet seat cover for children that covers the sides and the front of the toilet, to keep away germs at public rest-rooms.  It is made of non-woven fabric coated with a layer of plastic, creating a waterproof barrier between the toilet and the child. This product has the largest coverage of all seat covers on the market and for added convenience, each seat cover is individually packaged in a small, easy to open bag that makes it super easy to always keep one or two in a purse or a back pocket.

Using a public rest-room with a young child could be very stressful, but with PottyCovers the whole family can feel safe knowing that even at the filthiest bathrooms they will be protected from germs. We designed this product for kids, but it has become a must-have travel item for many of our adult customers.

I LOVE that they come in individually wrapped packages.  I can stick one or two in the diaper bag or even one in my purse.

I also love how much it covers.  It covers MUCH more than any other toilet cover I've ever seen.  Some of the worst parts are the sides just under the seat and the front and they are covered.
The only problem for us is there is no adhesive on the bottom.  My daughter has to sit on the front edge and scoot back on the toilet.  When she scoots back, the cover scoots with her.  I was going to pick her up to set her on it, but this toilet has an automatic flush toilet on the wall and I had to cover it for her or she wouldn't go.  I tried it and it works perfect for me.  After reading some reviews there are many people that hate the adhesive on covers.  I know that it would take longer to "set up," but my 4 year old daughter would need it.  If I am using it, I'd prefer no adhesive.  The toilet flushed on it's own while the cover was on and it stayed with no problems.  I think I need to stock up on some for me.  I hate public toilets...hmm...I wonder where Sissy gets it from! :P

A pack of PottyCover sells for $5.99 and it is available on Amazon, Ebay, all Buy Buy Baby stores around the country and at select Bed Bath & Beyond stores.

One lucky winner will get a pack of PottyCovers to try for yourself.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

About Me

My name is Jennifer Jean. I am a mom to four wonderful children. My 10 year old girl "Sissy," 7 year old boy "Bubby" and the "Twins" are 1.

I decided to start this blog to write about my favorite things. My children, silly comments from students, deals (I'm a cheapo, so I love bargains), reviews, giveaways, etc.  I'm a teacher and my husband is a former teacher (still works for the school system), so education is very important to us. We also like to read reviews and research every purchase we make (seriously...just about everything).  I think we are a bit obsessed with reviews, so I decided to write some of my own to help those that are obsessed like me.

I enjoy photography, but haven't had as much time since the twins were born to take our pictures as much.  I've done a few photography sessions over the years.  I do them for friends and family, so I don't ask for money.  I don't feel professional enough to ask anyway.

I'm PR friendly and LOVE to share the word about good products. This is how I decide to buy most of my products by reading other reviews. I end up buying my favorites for gifts because they are just SO good that my friend's and their kids need them too. :-)

If you'd like me to share or review a product, please feel free to contact me at differjean@gmail.com.
